career guidance for international Sophmore in IE
Background:
International Sophmore Pursuing IE at Purdue. I have a well established family business in the manufacturing industry in my home country. My dad encourages me to join after graduating. My mom tells me to try and create my own path in the US, but it is difficult for international students to succeed in the US.
A part of me wants to forge my own path because I value independence and accomplishment, but another part of me thinks that I would be live a better quality of life if I join the family business.
Right now, my plan is to seek experience, both, in the US and in the family business to understand which environment is better for me.
I want some help from the people of this subreddit to either give me some ideas on how I could evaluate between these 2 options or give me some wisdom lol.
