How to study for mbbs 1st year 2nd internals?
Non-medico here. My girlfriend is a 1st year MBBS student and her 2nd internals are in 11 days:
- Anatomy — May 25
- Physiology — May 27
- Biochemistry — May 29
Here’s her current situation:
Anatomy (hardest subject for her, but she likes it)
- Done: Upper limb, Head & Neck, Thorax, most of Abdomen
- Weak/untouched: Neuroanatomy, second half of Abdomen
- College gives important questions and most exam questions come from those
Physiology (feels more manageable this time)
- Done well: Endocrinology, CNS
- Done but needs revision: GIT, Special senses
- Untouched: Integrated physiology (temperature regulation, exercise, aging, yoga, metabolic syndrome)
- Questions are unpredictable
Biochemistry (she failed the 1st internals)
- Studied: Units 1–4 (biomolecules, metabolism, clinical biochem)
- Completely untouched: Unit 5 (molecular biology) and Unit 6 (current topics like cancer, AIDS, immunology)
- Around 30% of exam questions come from monthly class tests
She gets around 6.5 hours/day to study outside college hours.
Questions:
- For Anatomy, should she mainly stick to the important questions list or focus more on concepts too?
- In Biochem, is Unit 5 (molecular biology) high yield for internals or can it be postponed till finals?
- Any tips for someone who failed Biochem in the 1st internals and wants to improve this time?
- How did you divide time between all 3 subjects when exams were on alternate days?
Would appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through a similar situation. also am fully aware of the fact that failing a exam in mbbs isn't a uncommon thing
