Offer Dilema

I went to go and view a property on Tuesday, called on Monday to arrange it and when I was viewing it I put an offer in right away.. once I got home I was called by the estate agents to advise that the sellers had already accepted an offer on Saturday and the person showing us around was off on the weekend so didn't know.

Obviously I was furious and gutted but called back and asked if we could put an offer in anyway as we have an offer accepted on my house and he's already sold his house and doesn't need a mortgage or survey and wants to move quick, we put an offer in above asking price.

The lady at the estate agents says "I highly doubt they'll accept it as it's gone to solicitors but we'll put it forward".. Gone to the solicitors most likely Monday, this was the day after it's not as if it's gone far or anywhere in the process...

Anyway, yesterday - the day after I put my offer in I called up to see if they've heard anything, I get told that they've tried contacting the sellers but had no luck, and they'll try again when the sale negotiator is back in the office later, gets to 4:30pm still not heard anything, so I called again and was told the MD of the company is dealing with it and he's on a cruise and not had signal??? But will ring me when he does.

Still nothing so I called today at 11am and was advised they were waiting for my estate agents to confirm my chain before putting the offer forward to the sellers, they've confirmed now but still waiting for the MD to get hold of the sellers (from his cruise)

Is this absolutely bizarre as I'm thinking? Are they just dragging their feet because they've already had an offer accepted?? I don't trust their communication at all.

**UPDATE***

I think I may have found the company that were renting the property out as they were listed on a website as owners and found the owners of that company and tried to contact them - I really hope I don't come across as creepy!!!

Struggling for Teaching Jobs

Completed my degree in Primary Teaching in 2024, but because of financial responsibilities I had to take a non-teaching job straight after university while applying for ECT roles.

The job market in my area has been horrendous, over the past two years there have only been around 3–4 jobs I could even apply for. I’ve had a couple of interviews but haven’t been successful and feedback is vague.

Now suddenly in the last couple of months there have been 5–6 vacancies come up, and I’ve applied for every single one. Some won’t accept ECTs, but for the others I haven’t even managed to get an interview. I keep being told I don’t have enough experience, which is frustrating because before university I worked as a teaching assistant for years, and I also include all of my placement experience on applications.

I’m honestly starting to feel really disheartened and wondering whether to give up at this point.

Is anyone else in the same situation? and been successful or did you just give up too?

Worried about leaking

I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and the past couple of days I've absolutely soaked my underwear, like by 10am I need to change it, today I've felt a gush as if I was on my period which I've felt a couple of times since being pregnant.

But worrying if it's amniotic fluid or just extra discharge I don't know how you can tell the difference especially if it's a slow leak?

30 weeks - planning maternity leave return

I’ve got a meeting with my MD today and I’m thinking of bringing up the possibility of returning part time after maternity leave, but I’m nervous about how to approach it.

The company has never really been very open about these things, and I know another admin previously came back full time after maternity leave and then ended up leaving not long after. I know it's because they didn't let her return part time.

I’m also in the process of buying a house, so realistically I need to start thinking ahead about childcare costs/options and what returning to work could look like financially.

I don’t want to sound demanding or like I’ve already made decisions, I more just want to understand whether part-time hours or a phased return would even potentially be something they’d consider so I can plan ahead.

How would you word this in a meeting with an employer?

Anyone else just completely lost their appetite randomly at 29 weeks? I think it's the combination of feeling so full/about to pop and heartburn but I am not hungry anymore.

A week or 2 ago I was starving all the time but I'm worrying now I'm not eating enough or the right foods to provide the nutrition for the baby

I'm 29 weeks now and I'm starting to panic that I've not got enough things for the baby and my list keeps getting longer!!!

So far I have:

  • Next To Me Cot
  • Car Seat
  • Pram
  • Moses Basket
  • Lots of clothes
  • Breast Pump
  • Nappies
  • Wipes
  • Formula
  • Few bottles
  • Bouncer
  • Bottle Warmer
  • Play Mat
  • Bottle Drying Mat
  • Snoozepod
  • Nursing Pillow
  • Baby Grooming Kit

What would you recommend is missing that is essential?? I've got a long list of "little bits" but not sure what's essential

Is anyone else struggling with sweating “down there” during pregnancy? 😅

I’ve got a desk job so I’m sat most of the day, and it honestly feels like my bump + thighs are creating a little sweat box (TMI, sorry). After an hour or two I can actually feel how sweaty it’s getting, and then I start worrying about the smell. I don’t even know if it’s noticeable to anyone else, but it’s making me really self-conscious.

I’m changing my underwear 2–3 times a day because it just feels damp and uncomfortable.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips for keeping things a bit fresher or more comfortable?

Anyone else have the RSV vaccine and feel horrendous the next day? My midwife that gave me that vaccine said that "most people don't even feel like they've had it, no sore arm and no side effects" I woke up this morning feeling like I've been hit by a bus, my arm is killing and I'm so tired and aching all over, my neck & arms and aching, I have a headache that's not shifting.

Anyone else feel like this? and how long did it last?

I was only off sick last week for work so can't really be off again!

I cannot deal with the pains, when I'm trying to sleep at night on my side I'll wake up in the night with really bad hip pain, I'll change sides then it's the other side that kills. As well as that this morning I've woke up with groin pain as soon as I've got out of bed!!

I've still got 12 weeks to go :(((
