This happened about 2 years ago, but I just got confirmation from a friend who was at her tattoo appointment that it really was because of what I said.
Backstory:
I (25F) met “Peggy” (25F) through mutual friends after she moved into a nearby apartment. From the start, there were some weird backhanded comments, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and invited her to a game night.
Big mistake.
During a game of Sardines, she literally pushed my head into a shelf and later laughed about it. In another game, she singled me out for being divorced in a way that felt intentional and humiliating. After that night, it was pretty clear she had it out for me.
Over the next few months, things like this kept happening, especially around a mutual friend (“Mark”).
The tattoo situation:
I had been planning a dragon tattoo for over a year, inspired by my mom and designed with my artist, including personal details.
About a month before my appointment, Peggy overheard me talking about it and asked questions. I got a bad feeling, so when she asked what I was getting, I lied and told her I was getting Haku from Spirited Away wrapped around my arm.
She had never seen the movie, so I assumed that was the end of it.
It wasn’t.
She ended up getting almost exactly what I described, large, detailed, and in the same placement. When she showed me, I was honestly stunned. She even said, “She’s going to be so upset. This is basically the tattoo she wanted.”
At the time I didn’t know how to feel, part guilt for lying, part disbelief.
UPDATE:
A friend who went with her to the tattoo appointment later confirmed Peggy had directly referenced me during it.
Apparently, she’s done similar things with other people too.
If you want, I can make it more dramatic, shorter for Reddit, or more neutral/less revenge-coded depending on where you’re posting it.
