Hi, 25M here. I've been living in NYC for about 9 months and I'm really struggling to find compatible roommates/housing. I know this is a common experience in the city, but I figured I'd ask for some advice.

I work a pretty stable job at a college so I have income, but I can't afford to live by myself.

My current roommates were found through Facebook and it hasn't been a great fit. Our schedules and habits just don't align. I'm very neat and tidy and try to be a considerate roommate, they are super loud at night and never clean up after themselves.

I've only ever lived with guys and I feel like I've never had a decent roommate before. And I've had over 20 different roommates over my life. The main issue is messiness and not communicating about shared expectations for cleaning and household items (garbage bags/paper towels/toilet paper.

This might sound strange but at this point I'm considering living with only women. I know its a generalization it seems like they are a bit tidier and more communicative and respectful with roommate stuff.

Just to be transparent, I'm totally straight, and I'm only considering it because of what I mentioned.

I'm feel like I'm losing my sanity and atop of the craziness of NYC and not having a stable place to come back to I'm getting depressed.
