Repetitive strain injury
Hello everyone! I’m currently a lab assistant for a major company that shall not be named lol. But about a month ago I got sever pain in my wrist and thumb from overuse from hours of aliquoting a day. Like I would be aliquoting for up to five hours a day with minimum breaks. Well I reported it and luckily my supervisor/manager took it seriously and I haven’t been aliquoting for about a month and have been doing occupational therapy and in various braces/splints. I’m still having pain and I’m getting worried that I won’t be able to pursue my dreams in the lab anymore. I love working in the lab and I’m devastated at the thought of having to leave the field. Has anyone who had a similar experience share some insights with me, please? Especially with recovery time and any general tips. It’s been incredibly frustrating for me, more so now that I know that pretty much every other location that does this test has an automated system and don’t have to do it by hand. But the company (worth billions) is too cheap to get us one and I got hurt because of it. Basically, I just need some support right now!
