I just finished my first week as a summer student and feel completely incompetent. I’ve been given a bunch of very narrow research tasks that I feel I have no idea how to really look into and the other students I work with seem very on top of it. I get straight As in school but now I’m realizing I may not be capable of doing the work itself. I know this comes off as whiney but I really want to succeed and feel like I’ve been thrown into the deep end here. Am I alone in this?
