The main picture/logo of this sub should be updated to the new logo of the PFF. As much as many of us dislike the current logo, the previous one was also pretty bad and was only used for a relatively short period (2008–2025). It’s also heavily associated with the corrupt tenure of Faisal Saleh Hayat.

Also, the current banner/cover photo showing the National Women Championship should be replaced with something more permanent and iconic to Pakistan football history. I think one the two photos from the 1989 South Asian Games that I attached would be much better, since that tournament marked the first major title in the history of the Pakistan national team.

Wang Xiao He — The Coach Behind Pakistan’s South Asian Games Golds

Wang Xiaohe has been one of the most successful coaches in the history of the Pakistan national football team, and arguably the most successful so far.

First arriving through Chinese foreign aid before the 1989 South Asian Games, he guided Pakistan to the gold medal that year, the country’s first major official international football title in decades since the 1952 Quadrangular Tournament.

He later became associated with Pakistan Army FC and returned to coach Pakistan again in 2003. Under his leadership, Pakistan’s U23 side won another South Asian Games gold medal in 2004, after the tournament had switched to an under-23 format.

During his career, Wang also coached in China with teams such as Bayi Football Team and Xi’an Anxinyuan, while remaining closely connected to football in Pakistan for many years.

We were supposed to get at least some details about the new league by late April or early May, but so far there’s been complete silence.

Mohsen Gilani’s tenure started almost a year ago now, yet everything still feels extremely slow with no real updates.

Does anyone know what type of teams will actually compete in the league? Will it include existing clubs like Karachi United, Popo FC, etc., or is it going to be a franchise-based system?

Also, what happens to departmental teams? Will they be part of the league as well, or completely separate?

Legendary international footballer and forward Abdullah Rahi passed away today on 23 April 2026. He played for the Pakistan national team from 1959 till 1967, and was part of the national squad which finished finalists at the 1962 Merdeka Tournament.

May the Almighty bless his soul.
