Best thaw method for a successful first feed?

Best thaw method for a successful first feed?

We'll be attempting our first feed (a large pinky) today or tomorrow - what's the best way to thaw these guys? Some say fridge then warm water, others say warm water no fridge. I've seen a hairdryer being thrown out there as an option as well. Is there a preferred way to defrost a mouse?

Said mouse eater

And so begins the millions of questions from the new snake owner

When you first brought your Rosy home how many days did you let them get acclimated before attempting to handle? I brought our gal home yesterday and she's been exploring non-stop, which is good? I think? Maybe not? But she was hanging by the door, so I opened it and just put my hand out to let her smell and see if she would climb onboard. I didn't want to just scoop her up. We were doing great, then my thumb twitched and you can see with her little brain cell she went MOUSE! And tried to eat me. Spoiler: it didn't work, but the little girl really gave it her all. Anyway, that may not have been the best way to go about handling her - so a) what's a good time frame to give her as she acclimates before handling and b) what's the best way to handle when she is ready? THANK YOU!

Thank You!

A huge thanks to everyone who answered my question the other day. Happy to report that she's arrived and is settling in. I had to give myself a pep talk before opening the box, but the initial "oh no there's a snake in my house" went away fairly quickly...lol.

What's something you wish you would have known as a new snake owner?

Hello! Come this Wednesday we'll be the proud parents of this 9 month old little girl. Dogs and cats - I'm well equipped! Reptiles and snakes? Not so much. I've only been introduced to them over the last 9 years, since I have two boys who LOVE all things reptiles. I've done a ton of research, watched all the videos, have all the things to make this girl happy and safe - but even doing that I feel like I'm walking into the great unknown. So I thought I'd come here to ask, what's the one or two things you wish you knew as a new owner? The things that didn't really pop up in the research. Appreciate any and all comments! Also, for all of those who have a Nagini - I'm going to lobby for her name to be Ginny or Lily.
