Nextellis fail? Other bcp options?
Hi there, I’m looking for some advice on birth control pills. I’ve been taking Nextellis for the last month and I’ve liked it quite a bit but unfortunately it’s been giving me almost daily migraines (no aura). I’m not sure whether or not I should continue, ask to try something else or just give up on bcp (I would like the contraception benefits though).
Just for reference, I’m nearly 35 and have had a ton of peri symptoms for the last 8 months post baby/weaning (hair loss, hot and cold flashes, increased anxiety and intrusive thoughts, low energy and fatigue, night sweats, itchy at night, migraines around period and ovulation, period lasting 10 days, etc.). Nextellis really seemed to help smooth out a lot of these issues especially with mood (anxiety is still there though). And yes, I’ve had every test under the sun and everything is “perfect” even my hormone tests (I know, I know). I’ve also had a couple bouts of presumed covid that seemed to make my issues a lot worse.
I’m just wondering if anyone has any advice on another combined pill that doesn’t trigger migraines (I used to be on Yasmin many years ago but I didn’t have migraines back then). Thank you so much!
