Let's say one Gen in lineage was in a common law marriage, hence no marriage certificate, what then?

Question: I am basing my claim on maternal side only.

G0 is complete New Brunswick

G1 I am missing marriage certificate

I do have HIS death certificate naming my grandmother as his wife.

Do you think this is enough to prove the name change in that Gen and Gen 2
