Liberal Studies Worth it?
Hi, I’d really appreciate some honest advice.
I’m choosing between two very different paths right now. One is New York University, where I’d be starting in a more general academic track (first year in D.C.) with the long-term goal of moving into vocal performance there. Music is a huge part of my life, and that’s ultimately where I want to end up, but the path to get there isn’t completely guaranteed.
The other option is Berklee College of Music, where I’d be fully immersed in music and vocal performance from day one.
I feel confident in my abilities, but I’m also trying to be realistic. I don’t know if it’s smarter to take the risk at NYU and hope everything lines up the way I want, or go somewhere like Berklee where I’m already in the exact environment I want to be in.
Another factor is that I’ve already committed to NYU, so walking away means being bl4ckl1sted forever
