Hey guys, feeling super stressed right now and could really use some advice from anyone who has been in a similar boat.
I checked my grades and found out I got a 49% in APSC 101. I passed all the project stuff, but my combined midterm/final average was just under the 50% requirement, which resulted in the automatic fail.
Here is why I'm freaking out: Because I failed this course, I now only have 22 credits completed for this Winter Session. Since I came in with advanced AP credits, the placement guidelines say I need to complete at least 24 credits in my first year to be eligible for the 2nd-year program placement. So this shortfall means I'm currently disqualified from entering a specialization.
I've already sent a polite email to the prof and EAS asking if there's any chance my final exam could be reviewed for a fraction of a partial mark to bridge that 1% gap, but I want to prepare for the worst just in case.
My questions are:
1. Has anyone been in this exact situation (missing the 24-credit minimum for AP students)?
2. Is there any exception or appeal process for placement eligibility?
3. Would Engineering Advising allow me to take a Summer Session course to make up the missing credits in time for placement this year?
Thanks for your advice!!
