Looking for the most authentic restaurants in SF

I lived in Korea for over 25 years and moved to SF a few years ago. I’m really into food, both cooking and eating, and I’ve been wanting to explore more places that feel truly authentic.

So I wanted to ask people who grew up in another country before moving here: what restaurant in SF tastes the most like home to you?

It doesn’t have to be trendy or pretty. It can be a tiny spot with no English on the menu. That’s totally fine with me.

I’m looking for the kind of place where one bite makes you go, “Oh wow, this is the real thing.” Would love to build a list and check them out one by one.

For Korean food, the first places that come to mind for me are SUNGHO in TL for pork bone broth and jokbal, and Don Blanc in Oakland for KBBQ, even though it’s a bit far from SF.

Curious to hear everyone else’s picks.
