Springfield Mill, Northgate Road, Edgeley.
Anyone else finding Northgate Road a complete nightmare since the new Springfield Mill development opened?
What used to be a fairly manageable part of Edgeley to drive around has become increasingly difficult. A lot of the new residents don’t seem to be using the development’s parking spaces and are instead parking along Northgate Road, often on both sides of the street, which is creating constant bottlenecks and blockages.
On top of that, there’s also a primary school nearby, so at drop off and pick up times the road becomes even more congested with parents parking and turning around. It’s not just frustrating anymore it’s starting to feel genuinely dangerous for both drivers and children.
Technically, people are entitled to park there, so this isn’t about blaming individuals. But before all this, there was an informal system where parking tended to stay mainly to one side, meaning two cars could still pass each other without problems. Now it regularly turns into stand-offs, congestion, and frustrated drivers getting aggressive with each other.
It’s a shame because the atmosphere around the area genuinely feels more tense than it used to. Curious if other locals have noticed the same thing or if there’s been any discussion about possible solutions.
