i’ve been working on a convolution filter using the b&k 5128’s hrtf, applied to iems tuned to the 5128-df target. the idea is to make regular stereo flac files sound more like they’re coming from speakers in a room. open, more natural, and less inside your head.

the brir (binaural room impulse response) is made with the b&k 4128, which is what i have access to. i haven’t been able to find any room irs made with the 5128—if anyone knows of any or has some they’d be willing to share, i’d really appreciate it.

i used ash toolset to create the filter, which let me customize the acoustic space and apply the right spatial cues. im running it in easyeffects convolver now at 48 khz, and so far it’s giving me a really convincing speaker-like image with good depth and staging.

i’m sharing the .wav file because this version sounded the best after several tries and iterations. would love to hear your thoughts. does it feel more natural? more immersive? any feedback on how it affects clarity or tonality would be great.

I recently made a convolution filter profile that may be of use to some of you. It takes the head-related transfer function of the B&K 5128 in room and applies the filters for a set of in-ear headphones tuned to the 5128-DF target. I'm just curious to see what others in the community think and if anyone else is using similar methods to attain a more spatial sound to regular flac files through their in-ear monitors. Good luck and have a lovely wonderful time in listening to your music.

Edit - The sample rate of the file is set for 48000 Hz. I can post files for other sample rates as well if requested.

Edit 2 - This following IR may sound better.

Hey everyone, I'm replacing the Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) on my 2016 Altima. I know the ECU needs to perform an "Idle Air Volume Learn" procedure afterward, and from what I've read, this usually requires a special scan tool.

I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible. I've seen mentions of a "pedal dance" procedure, but I'm not sure if that works for this specific repair on a 2016 model, or if it only clears codes without doing the actual ECU adaptation.

My main questions are:

  1. Is there a reliable, free "pedal dance" or key cycling method that will properly reset the ECU for the new IMRC on a 2016 Altima? I need this to be confirmed by someone who's done it successfully.
  2. If a scan tool is absolutely necessary, what is the absolute cheapest OBD2 scanner that can perform the "Idle Air Volume Learn" or "Throttle Relearn" function for Nissan? I've seen the a few mentioned, but I'd love confirmation from users that it actually works for this specific task on a 2016 Altima.

I want to get this done flawlessly without paying a dealership $150 just for a 5-minute relearn. Any advice from people who've been in this exact spot would be hugely appreciated!
