In 1965, 4 boys were born:
Daniel Adams born january 7th 1965, in Addingham, West Yorkshire
Axel Thane born on December 25th 1964, in Addingham, West Yorkshire
Kaid Jensen born on March 25th 1965, in Leeds, West Yorkshire
Pheonix Reed born december 8th, 1964 in Manchester
Daniel Adams and Axel Thane grew up living next door to each other, and instantly, there was a bond between the 2. They both adored music, bands like Liveon, The Rolling Stones and artists like Seraph and the Knight Brothers. While attending Secondary school, they met a boy in their tutor called Kaid Jensen. The boys noticed that he would sit and eat alone, so one day they invited him to hang out at the skate park after school.
They realised that Kaid was a very talented guitarist and they fell in love with just playing. Axel actually taught himself how to play the guitar and was very good at it. So after school, all 3 o them would just shred. During Music Class, the teacher told the class to get into bands and learn a song to play. However, they needed a 4th member, and a kid named Pheonix Reed came up to them asking to join, so then there were 4.
They learned the song ‘Darling, Sun’ of Seraph’s debut album in 1975. amd played it to a tea. so much so, the music teacher actually made them playin front of the whole school. The lineup was:
Daniel Adams - Singer
Axel Thane - Lead Guitarist
Kaid Jensen - Guitarist
Pheonix Reed - Drummer
However, instead of going to the music industry, the group decided to put it on hold and decided to pursue college and university, where they all attended the University of Leeds, studying music engineering. This is when they met a boy called David Seenan, who was studying on the same course as them. They also shared a house with him in 1987. They all graduated in the summer of ’87.
After, however, they had no idea what to do. That’s when the idea of the band started to float around again, and now wth 5 members they thought it could be done. So the group started to perform renditions of hit songs in local pubs in and around Yorkshire.
But the group felt so unoriginal that they didn’t have that uniqueness. That’s when Kaid came up with the idea to be like a servant to a godly being. So after a few hours, the group came up with the idea of the one who will rule all. The group decided to paint their faces as who this being wanted them to be.
However, before going to a sold-out show. David Seenan chose to leave the band as he didn’t believe in the band’s goals and decided to join another band. So now, without a bassist, the band was struggling. The group decided to keep carrying on and got a very big cult following. This caught the attention of Eclipse Records executive Sharon Michaels. This is also when the band caught news of Rock Icons Vaughn Axel’s split.
While negotiations for the band’s contract to Eclipse, they met Vaughn Axel Drummer ‘Vinnie Vega’, and he believed in the bands image and goals and agreed to join. The band that started in a high school in Leeds has now signed a record deal and os recordin their debut album. The band known as Sting.
Recording began in April 1990 and finished in January 1991. And the group decided the first single ‘Scorpio’ would drop on April 19th 1991. While the label listened to the album, they were just amazed by the band’s enthusiasm and their passion. However, they wanted them to scrap the face paints to which Daniel said, “This is who HE wants us to be, we don’t listen to you, only HIM”.
Scorpio was released and it took off running debuting at #43 on the hot 100 this was the bands big break and their 2nd and final single ‘Blackout’ will be released on July 10th 1991 and the album will be released on October 31st 1991.
