Need advice IMMEDIATELY

I want to be absolutely clear: I have never owned a chameleon, and I have never, at any point, expressed interest in having one. I love reptiles and I already have an adorable leopard gecko, but I know that chameleons are a whole other matter, which is why I need help NOW.

I’m a nineteen-year-old college student living with my family. Earlier today, my mom and cousin went to run some errands; apparently, they thought it would be a great idea to “surprise” me with this little guy. Right now I’m just trying to do as much damage control as possible, hopefully until I can find someone qualified to take him or convince my mom and cousin to bring him back to the store.

Just tell me straight up: how much hell am I in for, what does he need in terms of lighting, humidity, enclosure, food, etc., and looking at these few pictures I managed to get does he look okay (I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s malnourished - they got him at PetSmart 😐). Please be honest but gentle - I know that these are not low maintenance pets, that I’m not qualified, but I was genuinely caught by surprise with him. Please just help me do whatever I can do for this poor creature at the moment.

I’m a freshman in college who was placed into an upper level German course, and my professor has been genuinely wonderful. Since it’s the end of the semester, I decided to write him a letter (in German) thanking him and letting him know that I appreciate him. I finished it by writing “Ich liebe Sie und ich werde Sie vermissen!” plus signing my name. However, I recently learned that the phrase “ich liebe (person)” is exclusively used in romantic contexts, and that I should have written “Ich habe Sie lieb”. Will my professor misinterpret it and how do I clear up this misunderstanding (he’s already gotten and read the letter)? I don’t want him to be uncomfortable and I feel like such an idiot 😭
