Hi, I wanted to get some advice on a situation with my roommate.

I bought a refrigerator for our place, and recently it got damaged while in their care. I had it checked, and the repair cost is actually higher than just buying a new one. My roommate has offered to buy a replacement, which I appreciate.

However, I’m not sure what the fair arrangement is when it comes to ownership. If they buy the new fridge, does it become theirs when we eventually move out? Or should it be considered a replacement for the one I originally owned?

I want to handle this fairly and avoid any misunderstandings later on. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? What would be the best way to approach this?
