Would Edmund Mortimer be called Edmund III if he became king and not Henry IV? And how would that change British History?

If Edmund Mortimer succeeded Richard II, would he be called Edmund III? because there had already been Edmund I the Magnificent, and Edmund II Ironside. And would that have stronger claims to the throne than the Lancastrians?
