Is there a darker theme about death in Pippin?

Spoilers for the show’s ending are ahead!

Background: I understand the main theme of the show and I understand why they introduce Pippin as someone new to the circus; it reminds the audience that the story is not really about the circus’s show but is really about the circus performers (i.e. the Players). Plus, a performer who has played the part of Pippin for a long time isn’t going to “rebel” like someone new to the part would.

However, here is my theory. Pippin is introduced as a new performer at the beginning of the show and he is supposed to light himself on fire at the end. Are they suggesting that the actor for Pippin actually lights himself on fire and dies so that’s why there is someone new playing the part? The players seem pretty defeated and are quick to shut down the show once Pippin leaves. Is this because they know they won’t get another actor to play Pippin because Pippin will warn the next person? After all, they seem pretty eager for Theo to join the crew. With the show ending with a spotlight on the Leading Player, that’s why I feel there is a darker theme about death, the Leading Player, and the circus as a whole.

Edit: I’m basing this off of the 2013 Broadway Revival which is the only version I’ve seen.

Can someone explain why temp needs be set to Super priority so it doesn't override and remove values from the programmer? Is this because priority is more like "layers" instead of who controls who?

Logically, it should be a lower priority so it doesn't take over the higher priority of the programmer (but it works the opposite and I'm wondering why)
