I really enjoy having the immersive experience with background sounds. But I really find Harry and Neville in particular (but also Ron and Hermione to an extent) to make so many distracting moans or gasps or groans or whines. It feels overdone to a point. In the beginning of a scene or dialogue it makes sense, or in situ when applicable, but sometimes they are panting or ugghing during another character’s dialogue or the narration and it seems a bit overdone.

I obviously expect Harry to be crying out in pain when his scar hurts, and I expect Hermione to be gasping and jumping on her toes trying to answer a question in class. But even when they are feeling mildly upset, the kids keep making a ton of reaction noises that I don’t think is necessary to portray the tone.

I don’t blame the kids at all for this, it was obviously a directional choice, but I think just a *little* bit less of those noises would have been better. Still love the audiobooks though!

Go ahead and have whatever pet peeve you want, this is the subreddit to do so. This is also the subreddit to comment on it, whether you agree or disagree with the post.

Saying something like “why do you care?” is not productive at all, so I don’t support that. But people making their case for why the stated issue actually makes sense to them is a fair use of the comment section.

But usually I see OP or others getting defensive when someone makes a fair case for an opposing POV like “this is their peeve they’re allowed to post it!” Ok, yes they are. No one said not to. People are allowed to engage with the topic though and put in their own two cents, if that topic has been made public.

What do we think the dynamics would be and would it be very short-lived, with one eliminating the other? I think they would both be competing for Voldy’s praise and their spot as “most loyal servant.” I don’t think they’d get along well even though they had the same goals. They might be allies for some things when they HAVE to, but I also think Voldy might enjoy pitting them against each other.
