[Qcrit] Prophecy, New Adult, Epic Fantasy, 100,000 words, 1st attempt.
Dear {Agent name},
I have been researching agents for two months, and there are five agents that would be perfect for me, and you are one of them. With that, I would love to offer PROPHECY for your consideration. My completed 100,000-word epic fantasy novel, PROPHECY, is set in the world of Overa—a land once ruled by harmony, now shattered by chaos and fear. PROPHECY combines elements of world-building and deep magic, as seen in The Stormlight Archive (Brian Sanderson), the menace of dragons and acts of war in Fourth Wing (Rebecca Yarros), and, finally, the human cost of war and control in Red Rising (Pierce Brown).
A world at stake of falling out of balance.
Two great evils that await to cast their shadows on the land, changing it to their ideal world.
A young man who is thrust into a role of leadership while understanding the power of Lycantharion that he was born with, which will shape his destiny and the world.
The once beautiful land of Overa thrived under the united leadership of men and dwarves for many years. Then, a great and relentless dragon, the evil Mors, decimated the kingdom of Fenra and slew its beloved king. In the aftermath, men and dwarves have all but lost their place as the world’s ruling races, their hopes kept alive only by the persistent rumor that the prince of Fenra survived the destruction and will one day reclaim his birthright. Peter, a young man whose past has been hidden by many, including himself, has been skilled and hardened by years of training under his dwarven mentor, and never expected destiny to call his name. Together with his friends and the enigmatic wizard Fenragell, who seeks to restore the balance of the world, Peter is bound by the hope of restoring peace and order to Overa by returning the prince and killing the dragon before he can unleash his evil.
Their journey is fraught with peril. Elves, divided by their own motives, both aid and obstruct the quest. A fanatical dragon cult schemes to keep Mors entrenched as Overa's tyrant, in hopes of a new world order. Meanwhile, the ferocious wolf-men of the east, led by Fenris, embittered by ancient grudges against humanity, seek their own dark dominion through conquest and enslavement of the rest of the world. All while Peter must also learn the unique power he was born with, Lycantharine, the very power to control wolves and shapeshift. As Peter’s company battles each threat, a deeper secret looms—one that will shatter everything Peter knows and change the fate of Overa forever. Will the young man confront his fears and finally rid the world of the great evil? Or will the darkness that is growing finally defeat the light and change the world forever?
Thank you for your consideration. Included is a synopsis and sample pages per your guidelines.
Sincerely,
