Hot on the heels of the fantastic Tammy spitfire in 1/48, I jumped straight into the FWs, the modern A-3 and a D9 I found second hand (which came with some resin wheels).

It is not my finest work, I'm not too proud of the mottling nor rigging, and messed a couple decals, but they were great fun, and It's the first time I'm really satisfied with the exhaust stains! I have not been disappointed at all by any of the 1/72 tammy kits I've had the pleasure to build so far, the D-9 is a bit long in the tooth with quite some flash, but fitment is still great.

Aftermarket were Eduard resin wheels for the A3, resin wheels and exito decals for the D9 and a set of Eduard PE German seatbelts.

I fell in love with the FW-190 playing IL-2 GB, and found those kits really enjoyable to build. I might eventually come back to build another A3, maybe as a tropical bird!

It is my second foray into 1/48th scale, the spitfire mk1 and British car which I posted a month or so ago, and I'm truly glad it was with this kit. I think it might be close to the perfect kit, actually (it is a spitfire after all... the kotare mk vb is on the way).

The fit and engineering were brilliant, it was extremely fun to put together. I loved the pilot figure and inclusion of PE, those were meaningful addition without going into torture and super detail. The decals are of course, tamiya decals, bit thick, I think I avoided silvering tho.

Long story short, I experimented a bit on this one, and enjoyed the ride, bad news for my other half, while I'm still first and foremost a 1/72 fan, I also became a fan of 1/48 and got a couple kits in the stash already. I have to admit, there's a lot to love about a larger scale.
