Hey everyone, total cycling newbie here – just got my first proper bike a little while ago and I’m trying to learn the basics of maintenance, so please bear with me if I’m using wrong terminology.

The bike is brandnew.

My setup:

•	Canyon Endurace AL Allroad (silver)

•	Shimano CUES groupset

•	2x drivetrain (front), 11-speed rear

The problem:

When I’m riding, the chain is generally too close to that neighboring cog the entire rotation. This causes a constant clacking/rubbing noise while pedaling.

Also during shifting sometimes it does make weird jumps and noises.

What I’ve tried:

I attempted to adjust the barrel adjuster on the rear derailleur (turning it 1/4 clockwise from my perspective with the bike upside down, viewing from the drive side). But it actually got worse, not better. I tried the other direction too but I’m not sure I’m doing it right.

As said I am completely new and wondered if I can fix this myself. Thanks for any help!
