Advice for an 18-year-old wanting to start investing?

Hello, I just want to start by saying that I have a very basic understanding of investing, stocks, etc. I mostly learned from my economics class, which didn't go too deep into the subject. As stated previously, I'm only 18. I make ~$700 a month (~$800 on a good month) as I can only work part-time, don't have any major expenses at the moment, and have saved up about $3000 in a savings account so far, if that matters.

At the moment, I've been considering investing in VT (or VTI) + VXUS, in a 70/30 or 80/20 split. I was thinking I could start with $500, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm not sure how much I would put into it over time. I understand investing has its risks, but I don't want to go into anything that would add too much risk. If I understand correctly, VT, VXUS, and VTI are relatively stable, offer enough diversification when combined, and are ETFs that you just leave be for 20 or so years. My goal with investing is to eventually have enough money to live comfortably. I don't care for being wealthy; I would just like to live without worrying about finances.
Any advice or tips are welcome, as are questions if it helps give better advice.
