Gilles De Bilde

Gilles De Bilde

Quite a controversial character -

Gilles De Bilde was involved in a serious on-field assault in December 1996, punching Eendracht Aalst player Krist Porte during a First Division match. The incident left Porte with a broken nose and severe eye injury, resulting in criminal charges for voluntary wounding and a lengthy suspension for De Bilde. (I don’t think De Bilde even got booked for it)

In 2006, he missed a match to mourn the death of one of his dogs

In 2011 he stood trial for the alleged battery of his wife

I Was At The Original Trainspotting Premier

This is my mates ticket stud from the night!

It was a minimum donation of five ponds a ticket with proceeds going to Calton Athletic, the drug support group who feature in the start playing football with the guys.

There were three premiers in Edinburgh that night, one in Glasgow. I just missed out on the bus tickets to the after party in Glasgow where the stars and others like members of Blur and Angelina Jolie were in attendance.

I sat not far behind Irvine Welsh and it felt like the start of something social happening.

With my surname being Renton it’s even more amazing!

Not sure if this is still available to buy from them but the Paninaro magazine issue nine is all about Oasis. Some great articles, pictures and art featuring the band from their start right up to the comeback tour

It’s well worth tracking down a copy

Just finished reading this and highly recommend it. James Brown was the founder/editor of Loaded magazine that came about in the mid nineties.

Not so much a book on Britpop but a fascinating insight into what it was like to be at the centre of the universe at that point. And he’s a massive music fan. Some good stories about Liam.

I think he’ll still personalise copies that you buy from him directly from Instagram.

Hearts fans wanting Hibs to win more than some Hibs fans

Some Hibs fans wanting Rangers to win

Celtic hoping Rangers could get at least a draw

Mental, eh

I was at THAT derby at Easter Road. Plays stopped and as far as I can remember it was quite near the East terracing.

Hibs fans start a chorus aimed at Hearts player Stevie Fulton of ‘You are so fucking ugly! So fucking ugly!’

Fulton to his credit takes it in good jest and makes a wee acknowledgment to the Hibs support. The next thing he’s getting a yellow card for doing that.

Straight away the Hibs fans sing “You’ve just been booked for bent ugly! Booked for being ugly!”

To be fair we probably went on to get beat. As is the case

I’m often the first to have a go at tram conductors so it’s only fitting that I praise them, too.

I was on a tram heading into town from the airport after six yesterday.

The conductor was on his phone making someone aware that a woman had got off at Murrayfield after feeling unwell. He described her looks and where she was and told them it must have been the heat and she was drinking a bottle of water. He also stated he’d checked in on her before she got off.

I’m assuming he was calling a control centre. Maybe they’d send someone to make sure she was okay?

I’m not sure who he was calling but I’ll pass on my praise to Edinburgh Tram folk later. There’s a lot of negativity just now so I thought I’d share a positive experience.
