So I had the chance for a HAM radio badge back in my Boy Scout days, (never quite got to Eagle). This might not be the correct place to ask but I’m looking to do a lot of camping and was thinking about communication in areas without cell service.

I have an interest in proper radio comms(HAM) but also GMRS. Seems simpler. Not sure how remote my camping might get. But would like a potential lifeline. Any recommendations are welcome.
