i’m a 19/M and had an acute pancreatitis attack about 7 months ago. the cause was never clearly identified, my triglycerides weren’t very high, i don’t drink alcohol, and doctors couldn’t find a definite reason. i was overweight at the time though, and since then i’ve lost about 37lbs

after the first episode, i was put on enzyme support for 2 weeks. the day i stopped taking enzymes, i ended up having a second episode.

after that, i went to one of the top hospitals in my country, and they advised me to continue pancreatin for 4 months.

now it’s been around 6 months. i haven’t been able to go back for a proper follow up since the hospital is in another state, but i’ve been doing basic blood tests every 3 months on my own like lipase, amylase, hba1c, lft, kft and everything has been coming back normal.

i feel okay overall, no major symptoms right now.

my question is does this mean my pancreas has recovered? is it safe to stop pancreatin, or should i continue until i see a doctor?

would really appreciate advice from anyone who’s been through something similar.

thanks 🙏
