My gf of 4 years wanted to get a dog for quite some time and I was always against it but she promised me all these things that she would take care of it and the dog would be a good, obedient and well trained. Well she bought the dog one year ago and the dog has been nothing but a nuisance.
It barks and is aggresive and scared towards literally anything that moves or makes a sound. It is constantly pulling on the leash and needs like 2 hours minium of outside activity everyday since it it a working breed dog. I always have to walk and feed the dog since my gf works long hours and always whines how she doesn't have the energy to take care of the dog.
When I say that she wanted the dog and should take care of it, she starts talking how it is our dog and I also have a responsibility towards it. She is right that In the end I said she could get it but i'm literally thinking of breaking up with her and moving out because I don't want my life to be just going to work and taking care of this damm dog. We can't do any trips either since the dog can't be left alone for more than couple hours and since it is so aggresive and scared no one can take care of it for us. It's limiting my life and career choises so much and i'm just going crazy.
We also live in an apartment and everytime someone makes a noise the dog starts barking and running around the apartment like crazy.
I was promised that I would not have to take care of the dog and she would do all the work and train the dog and it would be easy and all these other things. Now that the reality has set in and the dog is only getting worse despite all my attemps to get it to stop lunging towards strangers and to stop barking I feel like I was lied to and manipulated. Also when my gf and I go walk the dog together and the dog starts pulling and barking and lunging my gf starts yelling and screaming and jerking the dog because she clearly does not know what to do and its embarassing.
