Hi Everyone!
My baby is 4 months and 6 days old today and we have been following a more responsive nap time and awake time routine, sometimes it’s 4 naps and sometimes it’s 3.
Usually goes like this
Wake 6am-6:30am
Nap - 7:30am - 8am
I let this nap run for as long as he needs, but cap at 2 hours
If it’s run short so below 40 minutes, I reduce the next Wake Window by 10-15 minutes
If it goes long so an hour plus, the next wake window is about 2 hours,
This happens till we get to 5pm-5:30pm where depending on his nap lengths we offer a cat nap. 15-20 minutes
Then a wake window of 2 hours before bed around 7-7:30pm
He usually cries/fusses for about 5 minutes then falls asleep. Is there any red flags in my schedule or advice to give?
I have some curious questions
- if the nap runs short should I be changing my next wake window or sticking to 2 hours?
- is overtired really a thing that can result in short naps?
- should the last wake window be the longest to build sleep pressure?
- what is a good suggestion for a simple last wake window windows routine
- if a baby is getting more than 3.5 hours of sleep a day does that mean they will potentially have more wakeups at night due to being under tired?
