Today this little guy showed up on the porch with a wound on his arm. I don’t know what happened as I’m much more familiar with dogs and don’t know what different typical outdoor cat injuries look like.

He and another little girl cat (also TNR) basically live in my back yard and Ive slowly gained their trust. Enough that they will now let me touch them. Head pats mostly but will allow me to pick them up for short periods of time if need and give them flea meds.

I don’t have the funds to pay for a vet visit, nor do I think he would let me put him in a cat carrier even if I had one. I have animal wound wash and some medical stuff to clean the wound if he’ll let me. The questions I have are:

•is this likely an injury from a bite? There’s raccoons, other cats, dogs and possibly coyotes in the area.

•Is that darker skin a bruise? Or does it look like some type of blood infection

•Is there some type of ring worm/bacterial whatever that could be the cause?

•it seems pretty fresh and isn’t actively bleeding much. If I dab it with a tissue there is a small amount of blood.

I just don’t know much about cats and their ailments to know how serious this is. I could perhaps keep him in side in a spare room with a small cone and makeshift litter box. So he’s not out running around and licking it and stuff. Or do I just try to get some ointment on it and let him be?

Any help is appreciated. I heard about a clinic that could be affordable (who am I kidding I have no money) but it’s a couple of hours away. I’ll do more research for closer ones in my area but just wanted to see if anyone had some advice.

Also, yeah he does have a collar on. I was trying out one of those cheap trackers to see if I could see where he goes (useless btw just tells me when he’s not near my house)
