Bought a brand new dryer for our recently-purchased house, and Best Buy set up the dryer in the basement with an eight foot semi-rigid duct vent as part of one of their dryer set-up kits. It didn't quite reach the exit, so I had to clamp an extension semi-rigid duct onto it and secured it with aluminum foil (metal duct) tape. It seems secure right now and it's primarily straight from the bottom of the dryer to the 90 degree turn of the extension, then straight to the outside.

I've heard some comments from a friend of mine that allegedly semi-rigid ducts aren't safe for dryers as they can be a fire hazard. So I wanted to come on Reddit and ask the wonderful people here at HomeImprovement to see what they think. Yes, I'm sure a full rigid pipe would arguably be better, but is it okay if I use my current setup without fear of a fire?

Thanks so much for all of your input. As a first-time homeowner, so many little things are making me anxious, so getting your thoughts would help a ton :)
