What are some good careers (corporate or otherwise) for creative people?

I'm an incoming uni freshman who is thinking about what I want to do in the future (maybe a bit early to think about career, but whatever).

I realised that my biggest strength is my creativity. My ability to think outside the box when others tend to be more rigid, and my ability to come up with novel solutions to problems. This creativity isn't confined to the arts, I do really enjoy creative writing and theatre, but I am also interested in various corporate sectors (e.g. finance) and I believe that creativity is an intellectual skill that would be applicable to such roles.

What are some good careers for this? Just in general?

Malcolm in the Middle has a seriously underrated soundtrack

I don't think I've heard anyone say this yet but Malcolm in the Middle has a really fitting soundtrack. Whoever MiTM's soundtrack coordinator was, they really gave the soundtrack its own personality!

The general 90s to early 00s era alternative rock fits the tone of the show so well, especially its quirky vibe.

But besides that there are so many scenes which become 10x more hilarious because of the BGM. Like the trippy song when Reese is trying to super glue Malcolm while sleep deprived; or the light, airy song when Dewey is using his cotton candy machine, which contrasts very well against the ridiculous or outright dangerous things he is making out of cotton candy; or the beat when Craig and Francis are both in the Malcolm house without each other knowing...

I never realised how important the soundtrack was to MiTM until I watched the reboot. The songs are so much more generic and don't reflect the chaotic vibe at all... But the original series had a phenomenal soundtrack that is seriously underrated! Much more purposeful than the soundtracks of other TV shows of its time!

Breaking into asset management?

I'm an incoming Freshman into NUS CHS (essentially, NUS's liberal arts programme where I can pick a wide range of academic majors) and also an international student.

I'm interested to break into asset management (probably as analyst/PM), and I am not too picky about asset class either. What would the path to that be like? (I'm not too informed on these things😅)

I think that people's responses may differ largely based on their background (and of course Reddit is itself quite a narrow subsection of Malaysia) but it's good to hear everyone out anyways

It is widely known that Reagan and Thatcher represented a new form of conservatism, but what's more surprising is that their successors from the other aisle of the political spectrum (e.g. Tony Blair, Bill Clinton) were also neoliberal and fundamentally espoused the same economic policies.

More contentiously (I think), the European Union also embarked on a neoliberal turn in the 1980s and 1990s with the Maastricht Treaty.

This also has implications for democracy since people believe that mainstream candidates are not meaningfully different and thus vote for populists in an effort to change the status quo even if it may be radical, which is a phenomenon we are seeing today.

My favourite is the development of the American economy in the late 19th century, for how it accounts for the rise of the USA as a global power and also how it had ingrained itself into the cultural milieu of its time.
