Im not new to colouring but I am new to the community and a fair bit of techniques I’ve seen other colourists use! I’m wanting to try and go out of my comfort zone for this piece and would love some advice or tips!

I got really inspired to take part in Mermay colouring and picked this page (Mythographic’s Dragonspell if you love it too😊). I spent a bit of time looking for a palette I’d love to use and came up with these images! I absolutely adore the 80’s dark fantasy style and the way it makes me feel. With that being said, I have no idea where to start on recreating it!

My first issue is the palette itself. I’m scared I’ll mess it up. In my typical art style, I go for very intense, bold and vibrant colours. These colours do have that but on a much more muted scale that I’m used to. I’ve researched muting colours but would love any additional tips! The other issue is creating a “misty” effect. I find the fog and haziness within the images so beautiful and I’d love to recreate it. Is it possible?

For supplies I mainly use pencils right now, but I have access to alcohol markers and watercolours (prismacolour scholar and crayola 100 pack, cheap alchohok markers with fine and chisel tips and a koi watercolour set).

Thank you in advance!
