I live in Germany and yesterday was the first really hot day of the year (28°, idk in Fahrenheit, but that’s hot, like 90 maybe?). I have noticed over the years in this apartment that in spring / early summer I always end up finding these huge spiders in the apartment.
It doesn’t look big in the photo, but the one I found yesterday was maybe 5-6cm long (2 or 2.5 inches), and this one is similar. The other two are dangling from my living room ceiling and are smaller but the same type.
And although I also have typical house spiders (daddy long legs), these ones keep showing up in early summer. Also they gross me out. My girlfriend is Spanish and said she’s never seen such huge spiders before. Yeah tf why? I used to live in the south of Germany and never really had this issue, and in Berlin of all places I have this issue every year??
Also my main question is, why did I find them all within one night? I do have a feeling it has to do with summer coming in full swing, but like aaaah. Is there a nest or something on the outside of the house? There is a large tree very close to the house and the house faces the back gardens, so there’s quite a bit of greenery until the next apartment building opposite.
Also I know they are fascinating creatures, but is there anything I can do to not have them in my apartment? :’)
