Trouble finding work in academia
Hey everyone, social worker from Texas here. I’ve had my MSW since 2021 and my LCSW since 2024 (just passed 2 years with it a month ago) and I’ve been looking to get into academia for over a year now with next to zero response.
In 2025 I applied to almost every college around me in the vast DFW area that I could feasibly get to including 5 major universities and many community colleges. All adjunct level. I received one response from my dream university who then ghosted me and I later learned they have been cutting the department up due to recent funding issues. Every other college hasn’t even changed my application status on their sites.
This year I applied to several new adjunct positions that opened up and took advice from a friend and applied to several all over the country who advertised as remote only from anywhere. All a mix of social work and psychology if I met requirements. Several months have gone by and still not a single response.
How the heck does anyone do this? I was told to start adjunct only but even that has been a wash! I didn’t expect it to be fast at all but basically not a single response has been wild!
