Mouse Input Affects Execution Speed in Linux?

Mouse Input Affects Execution Speed in Linux?

Apparently, I'm now the first person to use Etoys in Linux ever, still, to this day, after 8 or something ago years when I tried it on laptop...now I'm trying it again with a Pi...and this problem is here again...you can see in the video that when the mouse moves, Etoys runs at the proposed speed of it's internal workings. When mouse isn't moving over the screen itself, we drop to idle/unfocused update speed.

I've looked at buffers for sound, graphics, input, etc. and played around with things and reinitialized their associated processes, etc in Etoys there, but the results ended up making the movement better only when mouse is active, never solving the issue of getting 'idle' performance when not actually idle.

Thanks for any help. I've posted a different version of this question aimed at linux folks hoping there's a mouse setting on the system side that is falsly reporting to the VM something...

And if you're wondering why I'm not using a modern VM, it's because Etoys still doesn't work properly in it and that's why I hang out in Smalltalk-ville. :) If anyone knows of an etoys 5 or beta 6 image itself that runs on a newvm or how to get one to transfer to Cog without completely exploding, I'm willing to go that route, too.

Recorded these live to tape using Sony WMD6-C walkman with Dolby C utilized to get some texture on the sounds.

Samples from:
WWE - LA Knight Intro Music
Kids in the Hall - (bass player sketch)
MC101 - patches I made or preset edits
Digitone - patches I made
Zero G - edited drums from their old sample CDs.

No overdub, no post processing other than EQ/tape bouncing.

Enjoy, but bring earplugs, the engines get really loud in the arena!

It never is and I'd really enjoy if folks with half a brain about how anything works could be louder.

I'm not an insider of MJ or monster trucks and i don't claim to know Blake at all, but firings don't fall out of the sky. They just don't. If they did, Blake could sue, etc.

Now, they can look for *reasons* to not give him compensation if they need to open up the roster/looking to replace with someone else, etc. Which is a shady tactic. I've been a victim of that in the workplace, where if they lay you off, they have to pay you to go away, but if you quit or get fired, well...they don't owe you jack.

So...I mean, there's plenty of things that people shouting about this subject don't know. For folks talking about the safety matters, it looks like Feld tracks and Blake's driving don't mix. *shrug* It's not like he doesn't turn his truck over or nearly smack into walls on literally every event. I'm sure someone's said, 'Yo, one day you're gonna do that and bounce right out into the parking lot' and he maybe said, 'Yeah right' and then here we are.

At any rate, there's a lot of folks just ready to blast Feld for any reason, like a cult or something. I ain't here to defend them. They're, to me, just like any other company. Opaque and annoyingly so, and probably making decisions based on factors that are grossly capitalist in nature and very numbers in execution. That said, what role does the arena play in this? Maybe they had to pay a fine to them for the incident, got them kicked out of there forever, etc. MJ hasn't said anything about it, I've not bothered to look into it, and I doubt no one else screaming about this stuff has either.

So...yeah...uh...the world moves slower than you think and you know far less than you do. Let's simmer the fuck down.

The NES version is far different than the arcade version, in that you have the same controls for the action with your fat yoyo, high jump and ability to bounce on enemies to stun them...but now it's a big open world and you gotta find stuff (there's also a complete separate overhead action map that ties the side views together).

This is a couple of what if's from that game.
