I didn't take a photo before putting it out on the porch sadly, but still.

so I was walking around my room in the middle of the night listening to music, as all of US (as in you and me) do, when I glanced down at my carpet and saw this little speck. I thought it was a ball of cat hair- or maybe even mine, but when I reached out to pick it up, it twitched.

after I ran upstairs to get a cup and piece of paper, I trapped it successfully. mostly because it was in fetal position and barely able to wiggle its legs. flipping the lights on, it SEEMED to be a wasp (sleek, thin wings, wasn't reddish like hornets I've seen). basically I was like "oh shit, how'd THAT get in here, my window is always closed and my mom only keeps carpenter bees!", so I took it upstairs and tried to offer it some sugar-water

^(FYI I am not sure if wasps drink nectar, but I tried ok)

anyways, it died. but while I was trying to nudge it back onto its feet, it squirted some darkish, watery-liquid out of its abdomen. not sure if this was its blood or if it had lost its pokey butt, but it stained the paper.

What was it? Do wasps squirt liquid normally?
