I am working on a piece and I'm going to be using hobby came on the outside. It isn't going to arrive until Saturday though. I've soldered the center parts but then realized that I'm not sure if I can wash the flux off with the edges bare. Will washing cause water to get under the foil?
Should I just try to wipe off excess the best I can with a rag? Or should I tin all the edges? I use the method where I seal the hobby came all the way around to the foil. I don't think tinning would really mess that up, but might make the hobby came a little harder to fit?
I was just worried that it will mess up the piece if I wash it or if I leave it sitting with flux on it for a few days. I am going to use patina once the hobby came is on, so if the only concern about leaving flux on is the white mold stuff, that isn't a big deal since I will steel wool it after the edges are done anyway.
Thank you anyone who can help with some guidance here.
