Balcony Solar Metering - Excess Generation
Connecticut just passed a law allowing for up to 1200 watt plug-in solar. However, the largest electric company in the state claims that, due to their older electric metering technology, any excess electricity generated (i.e., the meter spinning backwards) will be bill as electricity consumed. Purportedly, this is because their meters were designed to keep people from flipping their meters in a cheesy attempt to hide their electricity usage.
Does anyone else have this issue in their state?
