our contractor was over fixing a faucet last week and goes "you know thats hard water right." i just stood there

checked my kettle after he left. the inside has been coated in this thick white crust for probably 2 years. always thought that was normal?? never occurred to me it meant something was actually wrong with our water

weve been drinking from that kettle every morning. my husband uses it for his french press like 3 times a day and i dont think hes ever once looked inside it

spent 20 minutes scrubbing with vinegar and the chunks coming off were like little rocks

looked it up and apparently hard water can mess with your pipes, your water heater, your skin. the dry patches on my arms that i blamed on switching soap 4 different times?? might not have been the soap

anyone else just living with this and not knowing what it means because i cant tell if im overreacting or if this is something i need to fix
