Hi everyone,

I’m hoping anybody could be kind enough to answer some questions about truck driving in the Netherlands.

I live in NL on a permanent residency for the last 10 years now, my Dutch is fine I’m not very good at writing but I can speak and read quite good.

I work as a ZZper in a construction trade for the last 5 years now and make one average 3,5k- 4K netto per month, not amazing not terrible. (I don’t have any type of eductacional diplomas or so)

How realistic could it be to transition in to CE truck driving hopefully local routes or Monday - fri sea containers around Belgium/NL.

When I mean realistic I mean could it be possible to make the same money netto, and still have a life?

I personally want to change into a different field because I think the work itself I could manage quite well and even though I have some freedom as a freelancer and don’t work all the time I just don’t really like my job or what I do, I did before but since I have kids it’s changed a bit and I’m not sure I can do this past my 50s, also I’m a bit tired of always making sure my taxes are good and the stress that comes with always finding my own work.

I would like hopefully to just have a job where everything is a bit more taken care.

So is it possible to make similar money? I don’t mind working the occasional night shift or weekend shift or even on holidays I don’t mind working 12 hrs a day (hopefully that would be in a 4 day work week)

If everything is more organised and told in advance I can always work with this.

Are there many companies that are just looking to take advantage of you as soon as you sign a contract and if so any recommendations on some to avoid or which ones to actually speak to who care about their workers and employees.

I don’t have a CE license and hoping to get it paid by a company I know you would have to do some pre determined years with them and that kind of means selling your soul but even when you do that is there a chance of just living a balanced life where I’m busy in the week but still get to see my kids and wife during weekends or evenings?

Thanks to anyone who can give some info and sorry for The long post
