Cracking and popping up sound
I recently bought a PS Portal 5 days ago. Before, I was staying at my mom’s house, where the PS5 was connected to a good internet connection but was very far from the router, and I was using my iPhone as a 4G (LTE) or 5G hotspot. The image quality was horrible on 4G, and the audio was distorted with crackling/static noises. It happened less often on 5G (I think).
Today I came back to my house, and now my PS5 is connected via Ethernet cable, with a 350 Mbps internet connection. The image quality became perfect — 1080p (also configured in the PS5 video output settings). However, there is still some crackling or popping from the PS Portal speakers. But it improved drastically after leaving my mom’s house and coming back home, where I could pair everything and test it more accurately.
I never noticed any crackling in the PS Portal’s own startup/pairing sound, you know? I stayed on the PS5 home screen/game selection menu for about an hour and only heard the crackling 1 or 2 times. I also noticed a crackling sound when I unplugged my wired P2 headphones and the audio switched back to the PS Portal speakers.
Do you guys think this could be a hardware issue or something i can do?
