I had a GP for 8 years. I got him when he was 8 weeks old. Pretty great dog I was devestated when he died. Very unexpected. That was two years ago. I’m going to look at a pup in a few hours. This time a female which is my preference. I have livestock and 2 acres on an electric fence. All my chicken got murdered by a fox 6 months after my god died.
Here the advice I need. My previous dog had some minor aggression issues with strangers. Which oddly got better when I moved into a different house. How can a prevent this? Having people come to my house a lot?
How do you socialize your GPs? Humans? Other dogs?
He had Minor food aggression that was easily managed. But is there a way to prevent this? Should i feed this pup by hand?
Also i don’t currently have chickens. I raised my last gp with chickens from the start. Is this important to do? I’ve heard of some LGD eating chickens.
What’s the best way to train this dog? Be alpha? Roll then on their back when they do something bad?
That’s what I did with my last dog. And he was honesty was an amazing working dog and family dog so idk why I’m freaking out. I guess because I haven’t had a puppy in 10 years
