CS major junior at a mid-tier state school here, aiming for backend SWE or ML/AI roles, and honestly I have no idea what’s going on with the market anymore. It feels absolutely cooked right now. My stats feel horrendous compared to what I see online, so I’m wondering if there’s anything obvious I should improve or pivot toward. I mainly work with Python, C++, and Java, have experience with a bunch of Python libraries plus some lower-level C++/OS stuff, and I’m currently doing undergrad research in two CS labs trying to work on problems related to my interests. I also mentor robotics for FIRST and work an on-campus job, so I’m not just doing classes all day. Still feels like everyone else has cracked internships, FAANG experience, startups, or published papers already. Any advice on how to become more competitive right now? Also accepting prayers for another 2020 CS boom lol.

Over 4000 roles and only 10 call backs. Am I cooked?

I have applied so many places, streamlined everything. Simplify, Linkedin, Indeed, you name it. Can't land a thing. What is wrong? Mid tier state school junior, can't even get a call back
