Sleep training almost 2 year old
My daughter is 22 months She still nurses on command and won’t sleep unless she is nursing/next to me/being held by me. She has increasingly become a very light sleeper and wakes up screaming if she feels I’m no longer next to her in the night. We are so exhausted. Me, my daughter, my husband… and I desperately want to wean her and sleep train her. I’m just tired and feel so overwhelmed. Beyond tired!
I don’t know how to wean her, if I tell her no she just screams and throws a tantrum like you wouldn’t believe! She won’t wait to nurse, she just starts screaming. Same thing with putting her down in bed. She’ll go from deep sleep to screaming in 2 seconds.
I wonder if I should just let her cry it out. And how long that would take and if that’s the wrong decision.
Anyone have an extremely clingy toddler and how did you get them to wean or sleep on their own?
Also: She can understand everything I say to her but she also has a language delay and doesn’t say many words. I think that adds to her frustration. I just don’t know what to do!
