Long-tail, location-specific keywords have lower competition and far better conversion rates because the person searching already knows what they want.
Your homepage isn't your only ranking opportunity - A lot of small businesses put all their effort into one page. Building a simple blog or resource section, answering questions your customers actually ask, creates multiple entry points from search. Over time, this compounds.
Page speed and mobile experience matter more than most people think - Google's ranking system heavily factors in core web vitals. If your site loads slowly on mobile, you are losing rankings and customers at the same time. Run your site through Google Page Speed Insights, it's free and tells you exactly what to fix.
Internal linking is underrated - Linking between your own pages helps Google understand your site structure and passes authority around. Most small business sites have zero internal linking strategy. Even a basic one helps.
Reviews are an SEO signal - For local businesses especially, the volume and recency of Google reviews directly influences how you rank in map results. Make it easy for happy customers to leave a review, a simple follow-up message with a direct link goes a long way.
