I'm a ML engineer with 4 year experience. A new comer with 0.5 years of experience is better than me. Should I just quit?

A new coworker recently joined our team. She’s brilliant, younger than me, highly approachable, and just flat-out better at training models than I am.

To be fair, I'm a ML Engineer on paper, my actual day-to-day has leaned heavily into MLOps. My tasks were focused on serving and deploying models, building data pipelines, gathering user data, and automating infrastructure. I’ve done some model training here and there, but nothing major.

Even knowing that, seeing her breeze through the modeling work has triggered massive imposter syndrome. It makes me think that I'm useless.

Should I just quit my career in IT?
