Hi All,

I’m a 42-year-old in Kansas City with zero music background, but I’ve always loved the sound of the trumpet and finally want to give it a try.

I’m a bit overwhelmed on how to begin and would really appreciate guidance:

- Should I buy a trumpet first, or start with lessons and see if I like it?
- Is it better to find a local teacher right away, or try learning basics online first?
- Any recommendations for beginner-friendly trumpets (or should I rent)?
- How realistic is it to start from scratch at my age?

If anyone has been in a similar situation or has advice on a good starting path, I’d love to hear it. Also open to any KC-area recommendations for teachers or shops.
